A Service Manager is responsible for recruiting and/or leading a team of technicians, service advisors and support staff, with the skills and qualifications to carry out the type of servicing and repairs offered. Candidate will supervise technicians’ performance and arrange training programs to keep the team’s skills up to date. A Service Manager will prepare schedules and plan staff duty rotations to ensure that servicing and repairs are completed as quickly as possible. Applicant must be able to learn and understand the manufacturers’ warranty standards as well as the policies and procedures pertaining to the manufacturer.

                                                    

Essential Job Functions

 

  •  Ability to work evenings and also Saturdays.
  • Excellent communication skills are important to the service department. They must be able to interpret customers’ descriptions of their vehicle problems and translate those into clear instructions for service technicians.
  • Service managers require good diagnostic skills to identify service requirements and assess the work of technicians. They also require excellent customer service skills to deal with any customer concerns or complaints.
  • Service Managers are responsible for maximizing revenue by attracting more customers or increasing the value of each service job.
  • Service Managers must develop promotional campaigns to encourage owners to choose the shop for their next service or repair.

 

Qualifications

 

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years prior service experience in automotive service environment, or otherwise related experience.
  • Excellent customer handling skills and ability to maintain high customer satisfaction scores required.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership ability with motivational skills and proven customer relation skills.
  • Ability to work independently to solve problems and operate in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Strong inter-personal skills. Demonstrated organizational ability with a high level of attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively.
